Summer Cinema: Die Hard 2

The second part of the stubborn cop film series was made just two years after the phenomenal success of the first Die Hard. The director was Renny Harlin after John McTiernan, who kept the wit and originality of his predecessor, but gave the second part more action and pyrotechnic effects.
John McClane, the police officer who took out a group of terrorists armed to the teeth in a high-rise building a year ago, has moved to Los Angeles to join his wife, Holly, from New York. But his badge with the emblem of this Californian city is of little use to him, because he is waiting in Washington, on the other side of the United States, for the plane with Holly to land. The McClanes are planning a quiet and relaxing Christmas holiday. But little do they or the local police know that the airport's instruments have been remotely controlled by terrorists who are now preventing civilian planes from landing. The perfectly organized criminal operation is led by Army Colonel Stuart. His goal is to free a drug trafficker, General Esperanza, who is being flown to Washington by a US Army plane. Unlike the airport police chief, McClane quickly realizes that things are about to get ugly. Fuel is running out fast and the life of his beloved wife is in danger...
