Summer Cinema: Die Hard

New York policeman John McClane comes to Los Angeles to visit his wife Holly, who is the deputy director of a large Japanese firm, Nakatomi. The company is hosting a Christmas party in an unfinished high-rise building. But the party is interrupted by German terrorist Hans Gruber and his unit. He captures all the guests, including Holly. Only McClane, who happens to be in the bathroom, escapes up the fire escape to the upper floors of the building. The terrorists claim to want the release of several of their supporters, but their goal is quite different. They're trying to break into a company safe containing $600 million. McClane must intervene. All he's got is one service pistol, a cool head, and the courage of the devil...
